How long does the warranty last: 24 or 26 months?
The legal guarantee lasts 24 months from delivery of the product. You then have 2 months to report the fault from when you discover it: this is why people sometimes talk of “26 months”. Some manufacturers additionally offer a commercial guarantee of greater duration.
Are software and digital content covered?
Yes. Since 2022 the Italian Consumer Code includes goods with digital elements, software and digital content, with the obligation to also provide the updates needed for the warranty period.
Do used products have a warranty?
Yes, the legal guarantee also applies to used goods. For second-hand goods the duration can be reduced, but not to less than 12 months, if agreed with the seller.
Are products on sale or on promotion covered?
Yes. Sales, discounts and promotions do not reduce the legal guarantee: it applies exactly as for a product at full price.
